Scholarship Overview

The Stanley Sy Scholarship is an annual essay contest designed to support undergraduate and medical students who are dedicated to pursuing a career in medicine. Established to honor the legacy of Stanley Peter Sy—a physician whose career spanned six board-certified specialties and over two decades of compassionate patient care—this scholarship seeks to identify and uplift the next generation of physicians who embody the values of clinical excellence, empathy, and intellectual curiosity.

Criteria

To be eligible for the Stanley Sy Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student on a pre-med track or a medical student at an accredited institution
  • Demonstrate a sincere commitment to pursuing a career in medicine
  • Submit an original essay in response to the prompt below
  • Submit all application materials via email by the deadline
